Bowen was born in Changsha, Hunan province and moved to Zhuhai, Guangdong province when he was 4 years old. In 2002, Bowen performed at 12th Conference of the Asia and Pacific Band Directors Association, and was awarded outstanding performance. In 2005, Bowen participated in the concert band for celebrating the 60th anniversary of the victory over the anti-Fascist war, and was awarded outstanding performance. In 2006, Bowen attended China’s first non-professional wind band solo competition and won the first price. Bowen was admitted by Xinghai Conservatory of Music with excellent grades in 2007. During his four years’ study in Xinghai conservatory of Music, Bowen obtained “Outstanding Student” and “First Prize for Scholarship” every semester. Also in 2011, Bowen was admitted by Graduate College of Music, University of North Texas with merit-based scholarship. In 2014, Bowen went to Nor th American Saxophone Alliance Biennial Conference in University of Illinoi at Urbana-Champagne, and gave two performances at the conference, one of them is his own compose—Windtalker. Later in June, Bowen was invited by Weilong Xi, Dean of Orchestra Instrument Department in Xinghai Conservatory of Music, to be a guest performer for The First FeiFan Cup International Band competition in Shenzhen, Guangdong. In July 2014, Bowen had a recital in Altira Macau, sponsored by Altira Macau Hotle. In January 2015, Bowen went to US Navy Band Saxophone Symposium and gave two performances, which are all his own composition. In 2016-2017, Wenbo premiered a lot of works by Nobuya Sugawa, Shohei Amimori, Daisuke Ehara, Atsushi Yamanaka etc in the United State. He also started his Doctor degree in Fall 2016 as Teaching Fellow in University of North Texas. In 2018, Wenbo was invited by Saxophone Professor Don Gelok to present a solo recital that feature all Asian composers work in University of Houston. He is currently as an Adjunct Professor in Dallas county community college district.
